World Forestry Day, also known as the International Day of Forests, is celebrated annually on March 21st to raise awareness about the importance of forests and trees to our planet. The day was first observed in 2013 and is organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Each year, a different theme is chosen to highlight a specific aspect of the role of forests in sustainable development, such as biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, or poverty reduction. World Forestry Day provides an opportunity to promote sustainable forest management, protect forests and wildlife, and to raise awareness about the threats to forest health, such as deforestation, illegal logging, and wildfires. It also highlights the benefits of forests, such as providing clean air and water, regulating the climate, and supporting the livelihoods of millions of people around the world. By promoting sustainable forestry practices and the protection of forests, World Forestry Day helps to build a more sustainable and resilient planet for current and future generations.
